Preliminaries

Before you can actually get started making textures it is important that you know the most common PBR maps and their functions. If you are unsure you can read the help page about PBR maps. It would also be helpful to know about DirectX vs. OpenGL normals, when I started out I did not know about these competing standards, which often left me confused as to why my normal maps didn't look right.
